THE DIRTIES (2013)

Matt Johnson’s (Blackberry, Operation Avalanche, Nirvana the Band the Show) first feature, THE DIRTIES is one of the most haunting coming-of-age films of the decade.

Told with equal parts satire and warning through a raw, painfully authentic feeling found-footage style, and with almost no scripted dialogue, THE DIRTIES is a darkly comic and deeply disturbing exploration of friendship, obsession, and the power of storytelling.

Two best friends, Matt (Johnson) and Owen (Owen Williams), are outcasts at their high school smart, funny, and constantly harassed by bullies. To cope, they channel their pain into a film project called The Dirties, a revenge fantasy where they strike back against their tormentors on screen. But as the line between fiction and reality begins to blur, their project takes a darker and more unsettling turn.
