MATADOR (1986)

A sexy, stylish and highly original psychosexual black comedy from visionary Oscar-winning writer/director Pedro Almodóvar (Volver) and featuring a star-making performance from Antonio Banderas, Matador is a blood-dripping celebration of the darker side of human nature with an unflinching look at the link between sex, death and religion.

Original and outrageous, oozing with erotic energy, as only Almodóvar would have it, Matador is a cult classic, wickedly waving a red cape to anyone who dares to disagree.

DESCRIPTION

Angel (Antonio Banderas, The Mask of Zorro) is a committed bullfighting student, drawn to the age-old traditions passed down to him from veteran matador Diego (Nacho Martinez, High Heels). Driven by his obsession and the respect of his mentor, Angel turns up the heat and turns on to killing, reveling in the sexual thrill of the kill.

Confessing to a string of murders, Angel garners the attention of mysterious feminist lawyer Maria (Assumpta Serna, The Fencing Master), with an ulterior motive, leading the pair to embark on a scintillating journey of sex, death and self-discovery.
